Leukocyte adhesion deficiency mnemonic

Leukocyte adhesion deficiency mnemonic
In LAD, cells are unable to migrate to site of inflammation.
The first indication of this defect is omphalitis (swelling and reddening around the stalk of the umbilical cord).
They have abnormally high numbers of granulocytes in circulation but pus and abscess do not occur.
It is diagnosed by evaluating expression (or lack) of the beta chain (CD18) of the integrin by flow cytometry.

Read a comic on LAD here!

That's all!
