Treatment of acne mnemonic

Here's a short post on acne.

Antimicrobials for treatment of acne mnemonic: ABCDE
Azelaic acid
Benzoyl peroxide
Clindamycin
Dapsone
Erythromycin


Treatment options:
Comedonal (noninflammatory) acne:
Topical retinoid (alternatives include azelaic acid and salicylic acid)

Papulopustular and mixed acne:
Topical retinoid AND
Topical antimicrobial / Oral antibiotic AND
Topical benzoyl peroxide

Severe acne (eg, nodular acne):
Topical retinoid AND
Oral antibiotic AND
Topical benzoyl peroxide
OR
Oral isotretinoin monotherapy

Oral isotretinoin, a retinoid, is effective for the treatment of severe, recalcitrant nodular acne. It is also used for milder acne that is resistant to other treatments or associated with significant scarring. 
Mnemonic: Isoo treats scars

When I was little, I used to call my pimples "Visitors", pretend they're guests that stay on my face for a few days and leave :D
