Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) mnemonic



Amitriptyline:
Most anticholinergic side effects.
Most sedating TCA.
Used for neuropathic pain.
When you say “Aah” in pain, remember Amitriptyline!

Nortriptyline:
Fewest anticholinergic side effects.

Desipramine:
Fatal with overdose.

Clomipramine:
Used for obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Clomi when you feel Compulsi.

Imipramine:
Used for nocturnal enuresis.
Imee.. will not let you pee in bed.

That's all!

Don't forget Doxepin and dothiepin (dosulepin) are also TCAs.
