Bernard Soulier syndrome mnemonic

This mnemonic would not help you to remember all the aspects of the syndrome but two quite important points would be on the tip of tongue for sure.

Remember the dog - St. Bernard's

It's a huge dog. So, the platelets in Bernard Soulier are abnormally large

The dog will always remain loyal to the family, will adhere to it. So, the defect is in platelet adhesion.

-Thats all!

  1. another good mnemonic is that Bernard-Soulier has 1 B in it, so you know the defect is in Gp1B.
Gp1B is what mediates platelet adhesion (as you mentioned is messed up in this disease)
