Anti-epileptic drugs, CYP450 induction and inhibition mnemonic

Cytochrome P450 aka CYP450 has the alphabets C and P:

C for Carbamazepine
P for Phenytoin

Carbamazepine and Phenytoin are happy because the alphabets that begins their names (C and P) are present in CYP450, so they happily induce it!

Carbamazepine and Phenytoin are CYP450 Inducers.

Now, Valproic acid is very unhappy. Even though it is an important anti-seizure medication, it's initial, the letter V, wasn't represented in CYP 450. Valproic acid is cross with it and it therefore inhibits it!

Valproate is a CYP450 Inhibitor.
