Hello!
Mechanism of action of GLP 1 analogues
- Increase glucose dependent insulin release
- Decrease glucagon release
- Increase glucose dependent insulin release
- Decrease glucagon release
Examples:
Exenatide, leraglutide
Exenatide, leraglutide
Mnemonic: They secrete a tide of insulin dependent on glucose.
A tide of insulin is secreted after GLP1RA reaches the receptor shores.
Weight loss in patients receiving GLP-1RAs is thought to occur as a result of slowed gastric emptying and increased satiety.
Mnemonic: "Tide" is an anagram for "diet" - so tides cause increased satiety and reduce diet :D
Adverse effects: Pancreatitis
Mnemonic: Tides causes titis
Mnemonic: Tides causes titis
That's all!
