Hey everyone!
High potency antipsychotics have extrapyramidal side effects.
Low potency antipsychotics have anticholinergic side effects.
I made this silly and lame rap to remember -
Antipsychos are dopamine blockos
(Antipsychotics block dopamine receptors)
Yo antichol! How low can you go?
(The ones with the anticholinergic side effects are the low potency antipsychotics)
Chol! Chol-promazine!
(CPZ is low potency antipsychotic)
Thioridazone! Getting rid of them pyramidal!
(Thioridazone is low potency neuroleptic without EPS)
Your moderate - molindone and loxapine!
(Molindone and Loxapine are moderate potency antipsychotics)
Halo, Hello high potency!
(Haloperidol is high potency antipsychotic)
Flu pyramidalzine?
Nah, I think that's Fluphenazine
(Fluphenazine is high potency neuroleptic)

That's all folks!
it's CHLORpromazine, not cholpromazine. and it's thioridAZINE, not thioridazone.
ReplyDeleteI wrote chol on purpose to remember about the anticholinergic side effects.
DeleteI have to admit about thioridazine though.. I guess I've been mispronouncing it all my life xP
Thank you for the correction! :)
