Mitral stenosis gradient and heart rate

Why is the pressure gradient in mitral stenosis heart rate dependent? Why is the pressure gradient in aortic stenosis heart rate dependent?

When heart rate increases, both systolic and diastolic time decreases. However, time spent in diastole is shortened much more than time spent in systole. This is why the mitral stenosis gradient worsens when the patient is tachycardic.

This is also why prolonging diastole and left ventricular filling by using β blockers benefits patients with mitral stenosis.
