In simple terms, while talking about MTP, extraovular instillation means that without rupturing the membranes, you put stuff outside it.
Extraovular instillation of drugs like ethacridine lactate, hypertonic saline, prostaglandins, etc. induce contractions and help in expulsion of the fetus.
