Laryngomalacia vs tracheomalacia mnemonic

Laryngomalacia casuses inspiratory stridor.

Tracheomalacia causes expiratory stridor.
Mnemonic: TrachEa has an E for Expiration.

LIL P:
Laryngomalacia
Inspiratory stridor
Lessens on Prone position

Why is the stridor of laryngomalacia worse on supine positioning and better on prone positioning?
In the supine position, the supraglottic structures collapse inward, increasing the stridor.
Similarly, on prone positioning, the symptoms lessen as the structures fall away from the airway due to gravity.

If the new born has biphasic stridor that decreases on prone positioning, what do you think of?
Vascular ring!

That's all!
