Ring-enhancing lesion in an immunocompromised host

Hello everyone,

If it is a ring-enhancing lesion in an immunocompromised host, the most commonly seen etiologies are Cerebral toxoplasmosis (50%) and Primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma (30%).

But let's talk about the uncommon etiologies -
Bacterial or Fungal abscesses can cause Ring-enhancing lesions. Examples? Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Aspergillosis, Tuberculosis and Trypanosomiasis!

I just heard of an interesting case today on Chagoma today and thought of sharing this.

Yep. Trypanosoma cruzi meningoencephalitis is a rare cause of ring-enhancing lesions in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) that can closely mimic central nervous system (CNS) toxoplasmosis.

That's all!
