How to keep up with medical school

"I was wondering if you have any tips on how to study daily and not fall behind in med school?" - Asked on Tumblr

“He who fails to plan, plans to fail.”

Here’s what I do: I divide my day into "study blocks".

A study block is 45 minutes or 1 hour of no distractions, study time. No phone, no Facebook. So I'd do - one block medicine reading, one block surgery questions, one block of video lectures, etc.

I put timers, so once I am done with the block, I get a guaranteed break of 5-15 minutes. You can check your phone after you're done with a particular block :)

Try and keep your blocks in sync with the lectures at school so you won’t lag. Do at least one or two blocks per day. Make them flexible. You’ll figure it out but start planning and make a schedule!
