Time management and avoiding silly mistakes in exams

"Hello there! Do you have any tips to stay focus and manage my time while doing a paper? I tend to rush and didn't read the questions properly which caused me to make stupid mistakes!" - Asked on Tumbr

Divide number of questions by number of minutes. Have some spare time at the end.

So, for example, I have 4 questions to answer in one hour, I’ll keep 10 minutes spare time and 50/4 = 12 minutes per question. I’ll round it up to 10 minutes.

Once 10 minutes are up, I WILL STOP answering that question no matter what. You can come back to that question later with the spare time.

Multiple choice questions are trickier because you barely get a minute or two to answer. In that case, to avoid silly mistakes, read the question once again before ticking. Words like “Except” make a huge difference.

Try to keep a track on your silly mistakes - You read the labs wrong, you didn’t think straight, you didn’t think about what the question was asking. Usually, time doesn’t make a huge difference in MCQ’s, it’s usually something else.
