Excess use of antibiotics can cause Diabetes

New research has pointed out that excess of antibiotics in children can increase there risk of getting diabetes in future.

Why?
This effect is the result of killing of the normal commensal bacteria in the gut which disrupts the normal homeostasis of sugar absorption.

This is an another reason why, physicians should prescribe antibiotics rationally. Avoid prescribing antibiotics in viral infections.

Antibiotic misuse not only increases the risk of drug resistant organisms but also increases the risk of developing diabetes in the future.

I hope this post sensitizes clinicians to this matter.
