Difference between neuroleptic malignant syndrome and serotonin syndrome

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome:
Evolves over one to three days.
Sluggish neuromuscular responses (Rigidity, bradyreflexia)
Typical course: Mental status changes appear first, followed by rigidity, then hyperthermia, and autonomic dysfunction (Tachycardia, high BP, tachypnea)

Serotonin syndrome:
Develops over 24 hours.
Neuromuscular hyperreactivity (Tremor, hyperreflexia, myoclonus)
Symptoms develop rapidly over few hours - Mental status changes, diaphoresis, tachycardia, hyperthermia, hypertension, vomiting, diarrhea, neuromuscular hyperactivity overlap.
