Mitral stenosis murmur features:
(mnemonic: MITRAL STENOSIS)
- Mid-diastolic murmur
- Thickened fibrotic valve
- soft rumbling sound (heard with bell of stethoscope)
- at the apex
- left lateral decubitus position
- enhanced by strenuous activity
- preceded by opening snap
- followed by pre-sy(i)stolic accentuation (late-diastolic murmur)
