Hello! Let's learn about the Hoffman sign.

The Hoffman sign: Involuntary flexion of the thumb and/or index finger when the fingernail of the middle finger is flicked down.

Positive Hoffman sign: Upper motor neuron lesion and corticospinal pathway dysfunction due to cervical cord compression.

False-positive: 3% of the population have a positive Hoffman without cord compression or upper motor neuron disease.
