Why are moxifloxacin, gemifloxacin, and levofloxacin also known as respiratory fluoroquinolones?
Because they cover Streptococcus pneumoniae when compared to other fluoroquinolones. S. pneumoniae is a common cause of community-acquired pneumonia.
