Precocious puberty in females is secondary sexual characteristics, accelerated growth in females greater than 8 years of age.
Normal pubertal landmarks mnemonic:
TAMMThelarche 9-10 years
Adrenarche 10-11 years
Maximal growth 11-12 years
Menarche 12-13 years
Causes of precocious puberty with treatment
GnRH dependent:
Idiopathic - GnRH agonists
CNS pathology - Treat the pathology
Idiopathic - GnRH agonists
CNS pathology - Treat the pathology
GnRH independent:
McCune Albright syndrome - Aromatase inhibtiors
Granulosa cell tumor - Surgical removal of the tumor
