Study group discussion: Fluoroquinolones

Fluoroquinolones with
maximum phototoxicity -  sparfloxacin
100% bioavailibity - pefloxacin
Highest efficacy against tuberculosis - moxifloxacin

I don't know what is the meaning of 100 % bioavailability.

100% bioavailability means no first pass metabolism. Usually achieved on IV administering.

  1. Hey ikan.. the FQ with 100% bioavailability is Levofloxacin (not pefloxacin, given orally). Levofloxacin is administered by iv route and excreted unchanged in urine. It had high potency and eliminated slowly.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    1. I am not sure. All intravenous drugs have 100% bio availability.
